Jeff Brazier Apologizes to Son Bobby for Hiding Mental Health Struggles

Jeff Brazier became emotional as he opened up about his mental health struggles, admitting he wanted to apologize to his son Bobby for years of hiding his true feelings. The 47-year-old This Morning star appeared on Pete Wicks' Man Made podcast, where he broke down in tears while discussing the 'fake' front he had maintained.

Brazier's Emotional Confession

During the podcast, Brazier revealed that he had been suppressing his mental health issues for years, describing them as 'heavy.' He turned to his son Bobby, 23, who was in the audience, and said he wanted to apologize for rarely showing his emotions. 'Can I tell you what happened when I really took the mask off?' Jeff asked, before explaining that he hoped by being vulnerable, he would teach Bobby that it is okay to share real feelings, whether through tears or happiness.

'I'm proud to be a man that can show emotion. I hope he feels that validation that if he ever needs to, he can too,' Jeff added.

Breakthrough in Therapy

Brazier described a breakthrough moment during a therapy retreat. He recounted that on the last day, while everyone else was celebrating, he felt fake because of difficulties at home. During a check-in exercise, he rated his emotional state as 'one, heavy,' leading him to break down. 'I feel emotional now telling you about it, but it gave me the opportunity to name it first and foremost, so it's better out than in,' he said. He noted that his vulnerability allowed others to support him and even cry with him, creating a sense of connection.

Family Background

Brazier has raised his sons Bobby and Freddy, 21, as a single father since the death of their mother, Big Brother star Jade Goody, in 2009. He previously fell out with Freddy but has since reconciled after Freddy welcomed his first child, Isla Jade. Brazier's candid discussion on the podcast highlights his journey toward authenticity and emotional openness.
