Grace Helbig to Undergo Brain Surgery After Cancer Spread
Grace Helbig Brain Surgery After Cancer Spread

Comedian and YouTuber Grace Helbig has revealed she is undergoing surgery to remove two brain tumours. The 41-year-old, who appeared in a BBC America marketing campaign, shared a video from a hospital bed explaining that the tumours were a result of her previously diagnosed breast cancer spreading.

Health Update Shared on Social Media

Helbig, known for her work as a guest in the 12-episode digital web series Almost Royal Goes to YouTube, took to social media to inform fans of the setback. She quipped: "Welp, I’m getting brain surgery on Wednesday to remove a couple tumors they found up there because it looks like my breast cancer missed me so much it might have come back to nest in the old cranium."

She added: "I’m cautiously optimistic but taking it day by day. My family and friends are with me, and my sweet husband, who I’ve already put through the wringer the first time around, has been a damn super hero."

Tour Dates Cancelled and Rescheduled

Helbig confirmed that all her tour dates for the rest of this year are cancelled but will be rescheduled into next year as she undergoes surgery. She noted that she feels "very positive and optimistic" because the brain tumours are operable, although she might need some radiation.

She also mentioned her friend Mamrie, saying: "Stay tuned for new TMGW tour dates, we were just getting into a groove with it! But Mamrie and her Virgo ass has found a million ways to pivot into helping me get through this."

Previous Breast Cancer Diagnosis

Helbig was diagnosed with triple-positive breast cancer in 2023, which she also shared on social media at the time. In a video to fans, she said: "OK, I don’t know how to do this, so we’re just going to do this. I have breast cancer. I know, it’s very shocking, it’s very surreal, it doesn’t sound real, but it’s real."

She had told followers she noticed a lump on her left breast a few months before and eventually mentioned it to her gynecologist. She urged others to get any lumps checked and not be afraid to talk to a doctor. She has now asked for brain surgery recovery tips, saying: "I feel very blessed and deeply loved. Thank you for all the support! This is probably a niche request but any brain surgery recovery tips are more than welcome!!!"
