Reality TV star Freddy Brazier has delivered a raw and shocking account of his mental health struggles, revealing he spent his 18th birthday in a psychiatric ward after a suicide attempt.
The 21-year-old, who is expecting his first child, detailed his journey in a candid TikTok video, using an AI voiceover to narrate his experiences from the past few years.
A Desperate Act and a Psychiatric Ward
Brazier disclosed that two and a half years ago, he crashed his car during what he described as a 'manic episode' in an attempt to end his life.
This was followed by multiple episodes, culminating in him being sectioned under the Mental Health Act. He spent his milestone 18th birthday receiving treatment in a psychiatric facility, a period he described as being born from 'wanting to end it all'.
Family Strife and Substance Use
In his video, Freddy also made serious allegations against his maternal grandmother, Jackiey Budden. He claimed he had prioritised his relationship with her, only to discover she had been 'lying to me for years'.
This accusation comes after his father, TV presenter Jeff Brazier, expressed concern earlier this year when Freddy was pictured smoking with Jackiey. While she admits to smoking cannabis with her grandson, she disputes claims that she got him 'hooked' on the illegal Class B drug.
Freddy was transparent about his own substance use, showing himself blowing smoke at the camera and stating he had been 'starving himself' and 'replacing food with green', a common slang term for cannabis.
The Turnaround: Sobriety and Self-Love
The video took a positive turn as Freddy outlined the changes he made to reclaim his life. He came to the realisation that 'something needed to change'.
His path to recovery included eating better, training in the gym, spending time away from London, and cultivating a small circle of friends. He emphasised the importance of his dog, skincare, and, crucially, 'self love', declaring that 'heeling is the new high'.
He captioned the powerful post: '2.5 years ago now, I'm f*****g proud of myself and I can't wait to tell my story.'
Freddy is now focused on the future, particularly his impending fatherhood. It was announced in August that he is expecting a child with his ex-girlfriend, with whom he has since reconciled. He confirmed the news by posting a picture of the Canary Wharf skyline with the caption: 'I'm actually a DILF to be!!'
Despite the happy news, Freddy revealed his living situation is unconventional, telling an interviewer he is currently 'couch surfing and loving life' rather than living with his dad, Jeff, who is now preparing to become a grandfather in 2026.
