Former Nickelodeon star Tylor Chase receives medical care after homeless ordeal
Ex-Nickelodeon star Tylor Chase gets medical help

Former Nickelodeon child star Tylor Chase is finally receiving essential medical care in Los Angeles, following a concerted effort by friends, family, and former colleagues who rallied to help him. The 36-year-old actor, best known for playing Martin Qwerly on Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, had been living on the streets, with recent viral videos shocking fans and prompting an intervention.

A Coordinated Intervention

Daniel Curtis Lee, Chase's former co-star, exclusively revealed to the Daily Mail that Chase's father had instructed Los Angeles-based influencer and business owner Jacob 'Jake' Harris to do whatever was necessary to secure help for his son. "His father informed me that he instructed Jake to get Tylor into treatment however possible," Lee stated. "I pray this is a step to get him to stay in treatment."

Lee, 34, explained that while he was uncertain if Chase had sought help voluntarily, he was among several friends who FaceTimed the actor on Monday to encourage him to accept treatment. Harris later confirmed in an Instagram reel on Thursday that Chase was "currently receiving medical attention to get him healthy, to get him all better and on track for rehab."

Setbacks and a Breakthrough

The path to this point was not straightforward. The effort was spearheaded by former Mighty Ducks star Shaun Weiss, 47, who has faced his own public battles with addiction. Weiss made a public plea for help on Monday and connected Chase with his acquaintance, Jake Harris.

Their initial attempt on Monday night encountered obstacles. While they managed to get Chase a hotel room, he did not proceed to a hospital or detox centre as hoped. Weiss explained that Chase became "spooked" and resistant, allegedly stating, "I like my life the way it is." Weiss countered, "I can assure you he does not like his life the way it is."

Harris spent an hour with Chase while the actor's father and former co-stars called him to express their love and concern. "They explained their love for him and how much they want/need him to agree to getting help," Harris wrote. Police were also contacted and were reportedly "incredibly cooperative," though Chase had previously declined offers of shelter and treatment services.

Concern from Those Who Knew Him

Daniel Curtis Lee told the Daily Mail he had been worried about Chase since learning of his struggles with mental health and substance abuse via a TikTok video in November. "It was devastating to see someone I grew up with in this condition," Lee said. He admitted that, like many former castmates, he had not been in close contact with Chase in recent years but was "deeply saddened" by his plight.

Lee has maintained contact, checking in on Chase and reminiscing. "Despite the rough exterior shaped by years on the street, [I] can still see the light in Tylor’s eyes, which gives [me] hope," he shared. Lee also communicated with Chase's mother, Paula, who emphasised that giving money directly could be harmful. However, she has left her door open for her son.

Prior to his homelessness, Chase lived with his family, where he posted poignant videos hinting at inner turmoil. In a resurfaced 2014 clip titled 'Bipolar', he described himself as "a leaf in a running gutter" and "a magician who has misplaced his top hat and rabbits."

Lee concluded by asking for privacy for Chase and expressed gratitude for the fan support, hoping it could "guide him toward a healthier path." As of now, Tylor Chase is at a hospital receiving the medical care his supporters have been desperately trying to secure for him.
