Emmerdale star Danny Miller, known for his long-running role as Aaron Dingle on the ITV soap, has opened up about his father Vince Miller's battle with dementia. Vince, 90, is a celebrated entertainer who spent 29 years as the VIP host at Manchester United's Old Trafford, earning the nickname 'king of comperes'.
Danny, who joined Emmerdale in 2008, has become one of the soap's most beloved characters, handling storylines from romance with Robert Sugden to dramatic murders and prison stints. Currently, Aaron has returned to the village to reunite with Robert, only to find a new houseguest, Serena Sugden.
Vince Miller's Illustrious Career
Vince Miller's career spanned 65 years, during which he mingled with celebrities like Johnny Mathis and Shirley Bassey and even spoke at comedian Bernard Manning's funeral. He retired at age 82, telling the Manchester Evening News, "I've no upset about it, the time is now to get out while you're on top." Danny organized a charity event for his retirement, calling him the "best in the business." Vince responded, "I've had a great career... no regrets!"
Danny's Heartbreaking Update on Father's Dementia
In 2025, Vince was diagnosed with dementia. Danny has been candid about the emotional toll, saying on Good Morning Britain, "Losing him over and over again is awful." He added, "There's good days and bad days... urine infections make him more confused." Vince now lives in a care facility in Manchester.
