Emma Heming Willis has said that her young children are grieving Bruce Willis as his frontotemporal dementia (FTD) advances. The model and influencer, 47, recently moved the 70-year-old actor out of their family home to a one-storey property with full-time care.
Heming Willis told Vogue Australia that their daughters, Mabel Ray, 13, and Evelyn Penn, 11, are doing well “all things considered”, but “miss their dad so much”. “They grieve. They miss their dad so much. He’s missing important milestones, that’s tough for them,” she said.
She described the decision to move him as the “hardest decision” and has hit back at online trolls who criticised the move. “Too often, caregivers are judged quickly and unfairly by those who haven’t lived this journey or stood on the front lines of it,” she said on Instagram.
Of her husband’s health, Heming Willis noted that he remains mobile and in good overall health, but his language abilities are declining. “It’s just his brain that is failing him,” she said, adding that the family have “learned to adapt”.
The actor, diagnosed with FTD in February 2023, also has three older daughters with ex-wife Demi Moore. Their daughter Rumer, 37, recently shared a poignant Father’s Day post, lamenting not being able to talk to her father as before.
