Italian Businesswoman Dies After Liposuction in Turkey

Milena Mancini, a 56-year-old businesswoman from Italy, has died after undergoing liposuction surgery in Turkey. She had been in a coma for 20 days following the procedure at a private clinic in Istanbul.

Mancini travelled to Turkey in September with one of her daughters. About 36 hours after the operation, she began suffering severe abdominal pain. Reports indicate her intestine was perforated during the surgery, triggering a fatal infection.

Her uncle, Luigi Di Palma, told Italian media that the family was unaware she had gone to Turkey for cosmetic surgery. He described her as a 'determined and capable woman' and a 'warm, cheerful person'.

Mancini died in the intensive care unit of Istanbul's ISU Medical Park Gaziosmanpaşa hospital. A post-mortem will be carried out in Italy once her body is returned home. She leaves behind her husband Umberto, daughters Alice and Juditta, and other relatives.
