She explains: 'We're at the park, she doesn't want to leave... you say "first one to get to that gate wins. On your marks, get set, go!"' According to Brewster, the child does not need to win every time, and there is no prize – just the excitement of the race. 'I promise you making them race with you will make you get s**t done,' she added.
Other parents have endorsed the method in the comments. One said it was the 'only thing that gets her out of the door in the morning,' using races for putting on shoes and coats. Another suggested making everything a game, from supermarket trips to brushing teeth.
