Love Island favourite Olivia Bowen has bravely revealed the terrifying details of her second son's traumatic birth, confessing she genuinely believed she was going to lose her life during the emergency delivery.
The 30-year-old reality star, who found fame on the 2016 series of the hit ITV show, recalled the moment everything went wrong after welcoming her newborn into the world.
'My Life Was Flashing Before My Eyes'
In an emotional and raw account, Olivia described how what should have been a joyful moment quickly turned into a life-or-death situation. "I saw them losing me," she revealed, her voice trembling with the memory. "I was watching them losing me, and I thought, 'This is it.'"
The new mother-of-two suffered a massive postpartum haemorrhage, losing an alarming three litres of blood during the emergency. Medical staff worked frantically to stabilise her as the situation grew increasingly dire.
The Aftermath: Physical and Emotional Scars
While Olivia has physically recovered from the traumatic birth, the emotional wounds run much deeper. She admitted to struggling with the psychological impact of nearly dying during what should have been one of the happiest moments of her life.
"You don't just get over something like that," she explained. "The fear stays with you. The memory of thinking you're leaving your family behind - it changes you."
A Message to Other Mothers
Despite the trauma, Olivia hopes that by sharing her story, she can help other women who have experienced difficult births feel less alone. She emphasised the importance of talking about birth trauma and the need for better support systems for new mothers.
"We need to be honest about how hard childbirth can be," she stated. "The physical recovery is one thing, but the mental recovery from a traumatic birth is something we don't talk about enough."
Olivia and her husband Alex Bowen, who married in 2018 after meeting on Love Island, are now focusing on their growing family and working through the emotional aftermath together.
