The following day, Munchetty was left red-faced for a different reason during Friday's BBC Breakfast. She and co-host Charlie Stayt interviewed Eurovision star Sam Ryder via video link about his BRIT Award nomination. Stayt remarked that Ryder was up against 'some serious credential artists', adding 'No disrespect to Sam.'
A shocked Munchetty laughed nervously before apologising to Ryder, saying: 'Seriously, when you say no disrespect there was no way... Sam, I apologise!' Stayt then explained that Eurovision had not been considered serious music credentials, but that Ryder's nomination had changed that perception.
Ryder responded graciously, noting that Eurovision acts like Maneskin have 'taken over the world' and that he was 'so grateful to be there'. He joked that he 'didn't stand a chance' against the other nominees, leaving Munchetty and Stayt in hysterics.
