Former AFL WAG and fashion designer Nadia Bartel has made a significant personal announcement, revealing she and her boyfriend, Peter Dugmore, plan to start trying for a baby this year.
The 40-year-old founder of the Henne brand shared the news in a recent interview with Stellar magazine, just weeks after indicating that marriage might not be in their future.
Expanding the Family
Bartel, who already shares two sons—Aston, who turns ten next week, and seven-year-old Henley—with her ex-husband Jimmy Bartel, confirmed they intend to use frozen embryos to expand their family.
"I want to try and have a family with Pete. We want to really start trying this year," she stated. "He's my partner and we've got each other's support."
She was full of praise for the Melbourne-based businessman, commending him for being 'such a big help' with her two boys and adding that it's 'comforting to know we've got the embryos there.'
Marriage Not a Priority
This family planning news follows her exclusive conversation with Daily Mail earlier this month, where she downplayed the prospect of wedding bells.
When asked about potential marriage plans while attending Derby Day in Melbourne, she responded, "I don't think so... I don't know. I'm not too fussed. We're just really happy."
She elaborated that despite a previous marriage, she has never been someone who dreamed of a big wedding. "It's more important to me being with someone that respects me and cares about me and he [Peter] definitely is the best part of that," Bartel explained.
A Modern Romance
The couple's relationship began in a distinctly contemporary fashion. Their romance sparked after Peter Dugmore slid into her Instagram DMs.
"I don't usually respond to Instagram messages, and I don't know if it was because I was feeling lonely, but I responded," she recalled to her followers.
After checking his profile and noting mutual friends, she decided he 'looked like a nice guy.' Their initial chats were so enjoyable they eventually arranged to meet at The Tan, a popular running track in Melbourne, and they have been together ever since, debuting their relationship publicly in 2023.
