Police have launched an urgent public appeal to find a young mother who disappeared from a hospital in east London shortly after giving birth.
Mother Reported Missing from Hospital
The Metropolitan Police were alerted at approximately 5pm on Tuesday, 30 December, after the woman, who is in her 20s, left the hospital in Romford. Her newborn baby remains at the hospital and is reported to be in good health, receiving care from medical staff.
Growing Concern for Welfare of Vulnerable Woman
Officers have stated they are "increasingly concerned" for the welfare of the missing woman, who is considered extremely vulnerable due to having just given birth. The force has emphasised this is not a criminal investigation but a critical effort to locate her and ensure she receives appropriate support.
Detective Inspector Neil Godwin, who is leading the investigation, issued a direct appeal: "This woman has just given birth and, because of this, she is extremely vulnerable. This is not a criminal investigation – we need to locate her to make sure she is ok. It is extremely important that if you know, or have any information about the whereabouts of this woman that you tell us so we can ensure she gets the right support."
