Reality television personality Lala Kent has made a rare move by sharing a series of bikini-clad photographs on her Instagram account. The Vanderpump Rules star, 34, appeared toned and slender in a striking black-and-white swimsuit featuring a floral print layered over plaid.
A Moment of Self-Recognition on the Beach
The sunny snapshots, taken on a sandy beach with the ocean as a backdrop, show Kent wearing sunglasses with her hair swept across her face. She accessorised with gold hoop earrings and showcased a vibrant red manicure. The photos come just a week after she was seen in a colourful bathing suit while spending time with her two children.
In a candid caption accompanying the images, Kent opened up about the profound journey of motherhood and postpartum recovery. "I read it takes up to 7 years for a woman to fully recover from her postpartum journey," she wrote. "Mentally & beyond— just trying to remember her identity outside of her kids."
She added a touch of humour and realism to her reflective post, stating: "So in the meantime, we’ll take pictures that remind us we still got it, then go back to 'mom. Mom. MOM!'"
Reflecting on a Difficult Past and a Brighter Future
This public moment of self-affirmation follows a period of significant personal struggle for Kent. Earlier this year, she revealed that her weight plummeted to just 90 pounds following her tumultuous breakup from ex-fiancé Randall Emmett in 2021.
Discussing that dark period on her former co-star Brittany Cartwright's When Reality Hits podcast, Kent confessed: "I couldn't eat. I was not well. That was the most horrendous time of my life." She admitted that even now, nearly four years on, she sometimes has to remind herself that chapter is closed. "Like, 'You're OK. That time of your life is over, and you're on the other side,'" she tells herself.
Cartwright, who will soon feature Kent on her new show The Valley, applauded her friend for reaching a "much better place" emotionally.
Embracing Motherhood and Planning for More
Now thriving, Kent is fully embracing her role as a mother. She shares four-year-old daughter Ocean with Emmett and welcomed her second child, daughter Sosa, now 10 months old, via a sperm donor. She has expressed a strong desire to expand her family further.
In October, Kent stated her hope to become pregnant again within the next year, and has even revealed she would love to have "five more babies." Speaking to Parents magazine, she explained her joy in the current dynamic: "I feel like we sunk right into this new dynamic... I just don't think I'm done. I think I need one more."
She believes a two-year age gap would be ideal, noting that Sosa would be two if her plan succeeds. More importantly, she has observed the positive impact Sosa's arrival has had on Ocean. "It just gave Ocean a different level of confidence," Kent said, delighted that her eldest has embraced the role of a "little caretaker."
Despite the acrimonious split from Emmett, Kent insists Ocean is "happy, healthy, and thriving," having just finished her first year of preschool. For Kent, these rare bikini photos are more than just a social media post; they are a symbol of reclaiming her identity and celebrating how far she has come.
