Former Love Island star Jonny Mitchell has announced the arrival of his first child, a baby boy, with his partner Simone Engelhardt. The couple welcomed their son following what Mitchell described as a complicated four-day labour that culminated in an emergency caesarean section.
A Challenging Journey to Parenthood
The 33-year-old reality television personality shared the news on Wednesday through an emotional Instagram post that documented their difficult journey. Mitchell revealed they had originally planned for a smooth home birth, but circumstances took an unexpected turn.
Days of stress, pain and sleepless nights unfolded as complications arose, eventually leading to the couple being rushed to hospital for an emergency procedure. Mitchell expressed his profound relief that everything ultimately worked out, describing the experience as emotionally taxing.
Emotional Tribute to Partner
In his heartfelt caption accompanying the birth announcement, Mitchell paid tribute to Engelhardt's strength throughout the ordeal. What a woman @engelhardtlund is, he wrote, praising her for enduring four days of labour, undergoing surgery, and handling everything with remarkable composure.
The new father admitted his brain had been racing to all kinds of possible outcomes, mostly not good during the stressful period. He concluded his emotional post by stating that everything was only just beginning to feel real and that it was time for the next chapter.
From Reality TV to Family Life
Mitchell first announced they were expecting in July, sharing loved-up snaps with his girlfriend and expressing his transformation in attitude toward parenthood. The former islander, who famously lasted 38 days in the Love Island villa in 2017, joked that while he was never a fan of kids, he had warmed to the idea of becoming a father.
Since leaving the reality show, Mitchell's life has taken significant turns. The couple moved to Bali in 2020, where he revealed his priorities had reshuffled almost overnight. He has since dedicated himself to animal welfare work, particularly caring for stray dogs on the Indonesian island.
