Jessie J Breaks Down On Stage Singing About Miscarriage & Cancer Battle
Jessie J's Emotional Breakdown Over Miscarriage & Cancer

British singer Jessie J delivered an emotionally charged performance at her London album launch, breaking down in tears while debuting deeply personal songs about her recent struggles with miscarriage and cancer.

Raw Emotion On Stage

The 37-year-old songstress marked four years since her devastating miscarriage with a heartfelt performance of Comes In Waves during the launch of her new album Don't Tease Me with a Good Time. Speaking directly to the audience through tears, Jessie revealed: "Today marks 4 years that I lost my baby. It's really f*****g sad and it's something you can't ever really prepare for to go through so this song is for anyone who needs that hug."

The emotional lyrics of her miscarriage tribute included powerful lines: "And I hate / How much I miss the future that we never made / Holding onto hope ' You're with me everywhere I go". Despite her heartbreaking loss in 2021, Jessie has since welcomed her son Sky with basketball player boyfriend Chanan Safir Colman in May 2023.

Double Tragedy Remembered

The emotional evening continued as Jessie performed what she described as "the saddest song" she'd ever written - I'll Never Know Why - dedicated to her beloved bodyguard Dave who died unexpectedly in 2018. The singer broke down again while explaining her deep connection to Dave, whom she considered family.

"His spirit, his energy... I just feel like he still protects me and keeps me safe," Jessie told the captivated audience. "He was my security guard for many, many years. He would take me on a walk every night after a show and he would be the first person I see in the morning... he was like my big brother."

Health Battles and Healing Through Music

The London concert came amid Jessie's ongoing battle with breast cancer, having undergone a mastectomy in June as part of her treatment. The singer later informed fans she would require further surgery, making her emotional performance even more poignant.

Jessie described songwriting as the "silver lining in the sadness", explaining that transforming her pain into music allows her to share healing with others. Her candid approach to discussing both her miscarriage and cancer diagnosis has resonated deeply with fans facing similar challenges.

The evening also featured subtle references to her past relationship with Hollywood star Channing Tatum, whom she dated from 2018 to 2020. Her new track Threw It Away contains pointed lyrics about their breakup, with Jessie singing: "I'm the beauty, you're the beast" and warning that "karma is gonna come one day".
