Jamie Laing has faced backlash after sharing a video of his wife Sophie Habboo holding their newborn son Ziggy in the back of a car without wearing a seatbelt. The 37-year-old Made In Chelsea star posted a montage to mark six months since Ziggy's birth, but quickly removed the footage after followers expressed outrage.
In the UK, children under 12 or under 135cm tall must be secured in an approved car seat. However, taxi rules allow children to travel without a car seat if the driver does not provide one, provided they sit in the rear. The couple, who are public figures, have been determined to shield their son, with Sophie admitting they are 'still working out' how much to share online.
Fans were unimpressed, with one commenting: 'Nice to see you have removed the irresponsible clip... It would be wise to address the elephant in the room and maybe admit you have been irresponsible.' Another added: 'I'm hoping it made you realise how utterly irresponsible you have been.'
Jamie and Sophie, who met on Made In Chelsea, are now filming a new Disney reality show, Raising Chelsea, which promises a 'no-holds-barred' look at their family life. However, insiders say the pressure of filming has 'taken a toll', particularly on Sophie, who has been 'forced to be camera-ready so soon'. A source told The Sun: 'They didn't really expect it to be as much pressure as it was, and part of them wishes they had never agreed to do it.'
