Bianca Wallace, wife of actor Ioan Gruffudd, has spoken about how their seven-month-old daughter Mila has transformed her life, offering respite from her battle with multiple sclerosis (MS). In an exclusive interview with HELLO!, the 33-year-old actress revealed that Mila's excitement at seeing her father at a recent fan convention was a joyful moment.
Wallace, who has an aggressive form of MS, experienced a remission of symptoms during pregnancy. She said she first suspected she was pregnant when she felt unusually well, describing it as an 'epiphany moment'. However, her symptoms returned two weeks after giving birth, with MS 'reminding you pretty quickly of who's in charge'.
Wallace was diagnosed with MS at age 25 after an attack that left her unable to hold a pen. She has since had 15 attacks, three on her spinal cord and 12 in her brain. She has found that sleep and remaining stress-free are effective in avoiding attacks.
Mila was born five weeks premature and required breathing support. Wallace and Gruffudd tried to slow down her labour by watching Alfred Hitchcock films, including Psycho. Wallace described the time as 'a moment I'm always going to hold dear to me'.
Wallace, who grew up in a blended family, said motherhood with MS has taught her new discipline, such as standing still to avoid stumbling while holding the baby. She praised Gruffudd as 'the sweetest, most loving father', adding that Mila is 'a real daddy's girl'.
Wallace is due to appear in the action film Seven Snipers alongside Tim Roth in June and is about to return to work on an unannounced psychological thriller. World MS Day is on 30 May 2026.
