Max George's The Wanted 2.0 Show Postponed After Heart Surgery Setback

The Wanted star Max George has postponed the first UK headline show of his new duo, The Wanted 2.0, following a setback in his recovery from heart surgery. The concert, scheduled for next Thursday at Manchester Cathedral, has been cancelled due to Max's health issues.

In a video message on Instagram, the 36-year-old singer said he was 'gutted' to postpone the show, explaining that his second heart operation had set back his recovery. He assured fans that he and bandmate Siva Kaneswaran are working on a new date and will definitely perform in the near future.

Max underwent a second heart surgery after experiencing physical symptoms that revealed one of his pacemaker leads was placed too far into his heart. He had originally been fitted with a pacemaker in December 2024 after being rushed to A&E with blue hands and a slow heart rate.

The singer thanked fans for their support and said doctors are conducting tests to ensure everything is fine. He noted that the next step is allowing the inflammation of his heart, known as myocarditis, to subside. Max shared photos of himself in surgery and of his scar, which sits beneath a tattoo dedicated to his late bandmate Tom Parker.

Fans and friends, including bandmate Jay McGuiness, sent well wishes. Max's first operation came after he woke up feeling freezing cold with bright blue hands while staying at his mother's home in Manchester. He credits his mother with saving his life by urging him to seek medical help.
