Rylan Clark has asked fans for prayers as his mother, Linda Clark, undergoes emergency surgery following a fall while on holiday. The 34-year-old TV presenter shared the news on Instagram, explaining that his 71-year-old mother, known for appearing on Gogglebox, suffered a serious fall abroad, necessitating an operation. He noted that her pre-existing health conditions have complicated the situation.
Rylan wrote: 'So unfortunately I took my mum away on her first holiday in a good few years and sadly she's had quite a bad fall, resulting in her having to have surgery out there. She's not in the best health with her other conditions and this has made it more complicated. My priority at the moment is my mum.' He thanked Scott Mills for covering his Radio 2 show and expressed gratitude for well-wishes, asking for prayers for a successful surgery and quick recovery.
Linda's health struggles are not new. She has lived with severe Crohn's disease since 1984, a condition that causes inflammation of the digestive system. Rylan has previously spoken about how the disease shaped his childhood, with his mother undergoing multiple bowel operations and requiring a stoma bag. She also relies on a TPN line for nutrition, as her gut no longer functions properly.
In past interviews, Rylan revealed that his mother has nearly lost her life three times due to Crohn's complications. During his X Factor journey in 2012, she could only attend one live show because of a near-death experience. Linda has also undergone three major bowel surgeries and now has only about 70cm of bowel remaining.
