One person has been taken to hospital after an incident in Newcastle city centre. Emergency services were called to Clayton Street at around 10am on Tuesday morning, with a series of police vehicles and ambulances around Eldon Square, the Grainger Market, the Duke of Northumberland pub and Tesco.
Medical episode response
ChronicleLive understands that the emergency services were responding to a person having a medical episode. Northumbria Police were notified of the incident by the North East Ambulance Service and provided support at the scene.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to an incident on Clayton Street in Newcastle shortly before 10am on Tuesday, August 11."
Ambulance crews dispatched
The spokesperson added: "We dispatched two ambulance crews, one clinical team leader, one HART resource (Hazardous Area Response Team) and were supported by Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS). One patient was taken to RVI hospital by road."
All emergency services vehicles had left the scene by 12pm.
