Jessie J Cancer-Free After 11 Months, Announces on Instagram

Jessie J has announced that she is cancer-free, 11 months after being diagnosed with breast cancer. The 38-year-old singer shared the uplifting news on Instagram following her annual hospital check-up, revealing that she 'sobbed for hours' upon learning the results.

Emotional Hospital Visit

In a video posted to her followers, Jessie documented her return to the hospital for an MRI scan. She admitted feeling nervous, saying, 'So I'm back for my yearly check-up, I'm actually s*****g myself, I'm not gonna lie.' The video showed her preparing for the scan, pointing to a cannula in her arm and noting, 'They told me there was no contrast, but I think there is based on this.'

The 'Price Tag' hitmaker continued: 'Gotta go in for my MRI, pretend I'm not claustrophobic, and if you haven't had a breast MRI, you have to lay on your front, put your arms in the air like Superman.' She joked about needing a larger bucket for the procedure but remained optimistic: 'Fingers crossed, all good, positive vibes, don't worry about a thing.'

Many celebrities shared their delight in the comments. Andrea McLean wrote, 'Ohhh this is WONDERFUL NEWS!!' while Brenda Edwards added, 'This is amazing news, I'm so happy for you!'

Treatment Journey

Jessie had disclosed her breast cancer diagnosis in June and underwent a mastectomy after the disease was detected early. However, doctors later informed her that a second surgery would be necessary. The singer expressed frustration when the second procedure was postponed, despite her having cancelled her tour in anticipation. She apologised to fans but resolved to 'make the best' of the situation.

In a previous interview, Jessie opened up about her dislike of general anaesthesia, comparing the experience to an episode of the Netflix series 'Black Mirror'. She also reflected on the physical changes, noting that her right breast now resembles 'a grapefruit under a tight bedsheet' and that the implants left her with different-sized breasts, which she humorously called 'rude'.

Impact on Motherhood

Jessie previously expressed that cancer had 'robbed her of time with her son' Sky. Speaking on Jamie Laing's 'Great Company' podcast, she said, 'Yesterday I sobbed. I feel like I can't be a mum to my son and I miss him. I feel like cancer has robbed me of memories with my boy.' She acknowledged the challenges of balancing treatment with caring for a toddler, adding, 'Some days are awful.'

Despite the difficult moments, Jessie maintained a positive outlook: 'I had moments where I thought "this is going to go left and I'm going to die". But I weirdly kind of enjoy bad things happening to me sometimes as it means I need to grow. I believe bad things happen to me so I can help other people who will then go through it.'
