A Place In The Sun's Jasmine Harman Steps Back After Hernia Surgery
Jasmine Harman Takes Break After Hernia Surgery

Jasmine Harman, the beloved presenter of Channel 4's A Place In The Sun, has announced she will be stepping back from the show for at least two weeks following a hernia operation. The 52-year-old, who has hosted the property programme since 2002, shared the news with her followers on Instagram, posting a photo of herself in a hospital gown.

Recovery and Rest

In her Instagram post, Harman explained that she underwent a small surgical procedure to repair a hernia. "Normally on a Monday morning, if I'm not working, I would be doing my Zumba class. Today I'm not doing it. Reason being, I'm recovering from surgery," she wrote. "I had to have a small surgical procedure - nothing serious - just a little hernia operation."

The mother-of-two emphasised that while the procedure was minor, any surgery can be draining. "Although it's a small procedure, any kind of surgery really knocks the wind out of your sails," she said. "So I will be taking it easy, enjoying the opportunity to slow down a little bit, which doesn't happen very often."

Understanding Hernias

A hernia occurs when an internal organ, such as the bowel, pushes through a weak spot in the surrounding muscle. According to the NHS, most hernias develop in the abdomen or groin. Some cause a visible lump, while others are internal. While some hernias may resolve on their own, others require surgical intervention.

Harman assured fans that her operation went well and that she is under strict instructions to rest. "Anyone else find it hard to slow down and sit still?" she joked in her caption.

Previous Health Update

This latest health news comes three months after Harman shared an awkward encounter during a routine smear test, where a male nurse recognised her from A Place In The Sun. She used the moment to encourage fans to attend their screenings.

Fans have flooded social media with messages of support, wishing her a speedy recovery. Harman is expected to return to filming once her recovery period is complete.
