A Polish social media influencer, known as Łatwogang, has raised over £52.5 million (257 million złoty) through a nine-day, non-stop live stream to support children battling cancer. The 23-year-old streamed from a studio flat in Warsaw, playing the charity song 'I'm still here' on loop and hosting celebrity guests.
The song, performed by Polish rapper Bedoes 2115 and 11-year-old Maja Mecan, is a rap diss track aimed at cancer. Maja, who has experienced her third relapse, sings: 'I'm still here / Did you think you had me? / I'm still here / We laugh in your face / I'm still here / And I'm not going anywhere.'
Celebrities including Coldplay's Chris Martin, tennis star Iga Świątek, and footballer Robert Lewandowski joined the stream. Martin sent a video of himself playing an improvised keyboard song, while Lewandowski danced to the track on TikTok and donated over £200,000. Speed skater Vladimir Semirunniy donated his Olympic silver medal and shaved his head in solidarity.
The initial goal was just 500,000 złoty (£102,000), but the stream became one of the highest-ever fundraising events on YouTube. More than 1.5 million people watched the finale live on Sunday night. The funds will support the Cancer Fighters foundation, which aids children with cancer and their parents, with a promise of full public accounting.
On Instagram, Łatwogang and Bedoes 2115 thanked supporters, urging the media to publicise the fundraiser and spread awareness that 'cancer is not a death sentence'.
