Team members at Specsavers Livingston are celebrating after gaining new qualifications, enhancing their ability to support the eye health of the local community.
Newly Qualified Dispensing Opticians
Store director Lisa Brockett and optical assistant Leah Brown, who work in the locally owned store in The Almondvale Centre in Livingston, have both qualified as dispensing opticians. Team member Huzaifah Rehman has also gained his BTEC Level 4 qualification in optical dispensing and commenced his training to become a dispensing optician.
All three have been supported by the store throughout their training, allowing them to support the team in providing professional eye care for the community.
Enhanced Services and Training
The team have also received training to provide the store’s new ZEST (Zocular Eyelid System Technology) service, which is a quick, comfortable and non-invasive procedure to help improve the comfort of customers who experience symptoms of dry eyes.
The qualifications will help strengthen the team’s expertise, enabling them to support more customers and enhance the care they provide.
Team Support and Future Plans
Upon receiving the new qualification, Ms Brockett said: “These qualifications are a big step forward for each member of the team, both personally and professionally.
“Having more dispensing opticians in the team means we can increase capacity in store, see more children, support services such as myopia management, assist our customers and optometrists with triaging emergencies, and support low vision customers with dispensing, as well as recommending services and support to help them remain independent.
“I’d like to thank my colleagues for their ongoing support and encouragement throughout the process. Their guidance and patience have made a big difference.
