A Florida woman has been arrested for allegedly posing as a licensed nurse and providing medical care to thousands of patients, authorities said.
Autumn Marie Bardisa, 29, of Palm Coast, participated in medical services involving 4,486 people from June 2024 to January 2025, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Rick Staly described the case as 'one of the most disturbing cases of medical fraud we've ever investigated.' Bardisa was arrested at her home on Tuesday and faces multiple charges, including practising healthcare without a licence. She is being held on a $70,000 bond, with a court appearance tentatively set for 2 September.
The sheriff's office said Bardisa used another healthcare worker's licence number and submitted false documentation to work as an advanced nurse technician at AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway. 'This woman potentially put thousands of lives at risk by pretending to be someone she was not,' Staly said.
Authorities have set up a special email address for potential victims to contact the sheriff's office.
