Celtic winger Haissem Hassan has been forced to withdraw from Egypt's squad for their upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers due to injury, Egypt boss Hossam Hassan has confirmed.
The 24-year-old has made nine appearances for the Premiership champions since his £9 million switch from Real Oviedo this summer. He was included in the Pharaohs' squad for the two qualifiers against Angola and South Sudan, as well as a friendly in Cairo against South Africa.
However, he has now been left out due to injury, although Hassan did not specify the exact nature of the problem when confirming the player's unavailability.
Intensive treatment
Hassan said: "Haissem Hassan is receiving intensive treatment just now."
"But I am not worried about his absence because we have a lot of excellent players to replace him."
"Haissem is a vital technical asset for our long-term vision, but his recent injury made it impossible for him to join us for this camp."
Player health prioritised
"We prioritise player health and full physical recovery above all else and we expect him back once he is 100 per cent fit."
