Selma Blair Says She Is 'Relapse Free' Amid Multiple Sclerosis Battle

Selma Blair has shared an update on her health following her Multiple Sclerosis (MS) diagnosis. The 53-year-old actress, best known for her role in Legally Blonde, was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease in 2018.

Appearing on Tuesday's episode of Today, Blair said she is doing 'really well' despite feeling 'tired a lot'. 'That's just the truth of it. So I don't want any of the people with chronic illness to feel like, “How does she do that?” I’m like, “Oh no, no, that’s makeup and happiness. There’s fatigue,”' she said. 'But I am, really, really well. I am relapse-free. I’m happy.'

Blair also revealed she is 'ready' to return to work next month, filming Ethan Almighty - Ethan's Law, a film based on the true story of a severely neglected dog adopted by Jeff Callaway. In the movie, she plays Claire Patterson, a woman struggling with faith and personal loss who finds a change in perspective after meeting the dog.

Outside of acting, Blair has partnered with Mersea to launch a limited-edition pyjama line, Sea La Vie, inspired by her MS experience and desire for comfort. She told Today that Mersea was supportive during her challenges, so she approached them for a collaboration once she felt better.

Blair previously told People in April 2025 that she was 'doing amazingly well' and 'relapse-free', adding that she had been feeling great for about a year. She also opened up to British Vogue in 2023 about being advised to keep her diagnosis secret, and recalled experiencing symptoms as a child that were dismissed by doctors.
