Irish actress and reality TV star Ruth Codd has delivered an uplifting and characteristically humorous health update to her fans, sharing footage of herself walking again after undergoing a second leg amputation.
A Festive and Defiant Recovery
In a TikTok video posted on Friday, the 29-year-old Celebrity Traitors contestant showed herself practicing walking with her new prosthetic legs, holding onto parallel bars in a hospital setting. Demonstrating remarkable resilience, Codd maintained a positive spirit, captioning the clip with her signature dark wit: 'When you have no legs left to amputate so you're wondering what you're going to do for attention in 2026.'
She continued the joke in the comments, writing: 'Terrible day for the Wikifeet community #newyearnewlegs.' For the session, Ruth wore a festive oversized jumper featuring a cat in a Christmas sweater and Santa hat, paired with a black turtleneck, shorts, and striped leggings.
A Long Journey to Mobility
Codd's path to this point has been long and challenging. Her medical journey began with a football injury sustained when she was 15, which never healed properly. After eight years of pain and failed surgeries, she made the difficult decision to have her right leg amputated at the age of 23, describing the choice as a 'relief' that allowed her to finally move forward with her life.
However, in November of this year, the actress confirmed she had undergone a second below-the-knee amputation. During her recovery at her parents' home, she became wheelchair-bound, naming her new wheelchair 'Fat Tony' and joking about its top speed being 'f*** all per hour, especially if there’s a step involved.'
Looking Ahead with Humour and Determination
Despite the setbacks, Ruth's focus has remained firmly on regaining her mobility. Last week, she shared a defiant selfie on Instagram with a one-finger gesture, announcing her plans to be mobile again. 'After a brief hiatus, world domination and winding up middle aged white men shall resume as of 10am. New legs loading,' she wrote.
The actress rose to prominence for UK audiences after appearing on the first British series of The Celebrity Traitors in October, where she was the second contestant to be 'murdered' by fellow stars including Jonathan Ross, Cat Burns, and eventual winner Alan Carr.
Ruth has been open about the severe nerve pain caused by her original injury, stating it severely impacted her mental health as her 'whole life' revolved around trying to heal. Her latest video serves as a powerful and inspiring testament to her ongoing strength and unbreakable sense of humour as she continues her recovery journey.
