Ruth Codd Recovers After Second Leg Amputation

Irish actor and The Celebrity Traitors star Ruth Codd has announced she is recovering after a second below-knee amputation. The 29-year-old had her first amputation six years ago following a football injury that led to years of surgeries and chronic pain.

In a TikTok video posted on Wednesday, Codd revealed she had undergone the same operation on her left leg. She said: 'I’ve just had my second below-knee amputation. So, unfortunately, those facilities are not available to me at the current moment in time.' She also showed off her new wheelchair, which she named 'Fat Tony'.

Codd previously told the YouTube channel FFTV that she had all her toes removed in 2021 due to the impact of using crutches for eight years. She said doctors told her her foot was 'never going to get any better', making it harder to work and perform. She added: 'It’s gone past the point where they can kind of do anything about it.'

The actor built a following on TikTok during the Covid pandemic with comedy sketches and disability awareness content. She has starred in Netflix series The Midnight Club and The Fall of the House of Usher, and appeared in the first series of The Celebrity Traitors earlier this year.
