Destanee Aiava has given a shattering update on the health of her father, who was admitted to hospital last week with a fractured skull. Hassan Aiava, a strength and conditioning coach and exercise physiologist, had been in the ICU after being found unresponsive. He underwent emergency surgery for a brain bleed, but the latest news is devastating.
Heartbreaking Prognosis
In an Instagram post, Destanee revealed the two best-case scenarios presented by doctors: a complete vegetative state or not waking up at all. They recommended removing the breathing tube to reduce discomfort and moving him to supportive care before palliative care. She wrote, 'Dad isn't dead yet, but I feel like he has been for the past 10 days.'
Family's Struggle
Destanee shared that the decision is not hers or her brother's, as they are not considered first next of kin. She expressed anger and hopelessness, saying she had hoped for a miracle. She also shared a GoFundMe page, noting proceeds will go to his recovery or funeral.
In a vulnerable Instagram story, she admitted she has 'clearly not dealt with death before' and is 'crashing out.'
Earlier Update
Last week, Destanee initially revealed her father's medical emergency, describing significant head trauma including a brain bleed and skull fracture, emergency surgery, and critical condition in ICU. She thanked supporters for their kindness and prayers.
