Spencer Pratt has drawn further comparisons to Donald Trump after appearing to replicate the former president's habit of recounting stories about unnamed fans expressing gratitude for his political efforts. The Los Angeles mayoral candidate made the remark during an appearance on Fox News with host Kayleigh McEnany, who inquired about the influence of his faith on his campaign.
Pratt, 42, explained that his wife, former reality TV star Heidi Montag, helped him reconnect with religion, which he claimed led supporters to commend him for attempting to 'save' Los Angeles. The anecdote quickly drew parallels to Trump's frequent narratives of admirers thanking him for his achievements.
During the interview, Pratt described a recent debate against incumbent Mayor Karen Bass and City Councilmember Nithya Raman, whom he labelled 'two lying demons.' He said his faith helped calm his nerves before the debate. 'I've never done a debate, and I've never argued with two lying demons live on TV,' Pratt stated. He added, 'I just said, "God, if you want this for me, please, just have me destroy them live on TV." And I walked off that stage and this young high school kid came right up to me, and he said, "Thank you, sir, for being the only one that told the truth up there on the stage." '
Mediaite accused Pratt of 'taking a page out of Trump's playbook' to self-praise his campaigning. In polls following the debate, 79% of viewers believed Pratt emerged victorious. Despite not naming the fan, Pratt interpreted the encounter as a divine sign that he is destined to win the mayoral race.
In the final stretch of the campaign, with voting set for June 2, Pratt has leveraged his reality TV background to criticise opponents for damaging Hollywood. He posted on X, accusing Bass and Raman of neglecting the entertainment industry. Pratt promised to streamline permitting, increase police patrols, and address homelessness to make filming 'easier and safer in LA.'
