Dr. Shaadi Manouchehri, a London-based dentist, has weighed in on the discussion, clarifying that brushing before breakfast is the optimal choice. She explains that brushing immediately after eating can actually harm your teeth, especially if you’ve consumed acidic foods or drinks like orange juice or coffee.

Why Brushing After Breakfast Can Be Damaging

"When you eat, the pH level in your mouth drops, making it more acidic," Dr. Manouchehri explains. "Brushing right after can wear down the enamel, leaving your teeth vulnerable to decay."

Instead, she recommends brushing first thing in the morning to remove bacteria that have built up overnight. If you prefer brushing after eating, she advises waiting at least 30 to 60 minutes to allow saliva to neutralise the acids.
