Tynemouth Pool Evacuated After Chlorine Leak, Closed

Tynemouth Pool in North Tyneside was evacuated on Sunday after a chlorine leak triggered the alarm. Emergency services were called shortly after midday, and the building was cleared of all occupants.

Emergency Response and Ventilation

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service dispatched three fire crews to the scene. Firefighters isolated the source of the leak and ventilated the property. A police cordon was established, and officers managed traffic while ventilation operations were underway. Fire crews departed the scene by 3:27 pm.

Pool Closure and Updates

In a statement on its Facebook page, Tynemouth Pool announced: "The centre will be closed for the remainder of the day. We will post an update regarding tomorrow when we have more information." The pool is expected to provide further details on Monday.
