Ozzy Osbourne, the iconic frontman of Black Sabbath, died of cardiac arrest, according to his death certificate filed by his daughter Aimée Osbourne and obtained by the Sun and the New York Times. The document, reportedly filed at a registry in London, also lists coronary artery disease and Parkinson's disease with autonomic dysfunction as contributing causes.
The official cause of death is recorded as “(a) Out of hospital cardiac arrest (b) Acute myocardial infarction (c) Coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction (Joint Causes).” The Osbourne family confirmed his death in a statement, saying, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”
His funeral was held on 30 July in his home city of Birmingham, England. Thousands of fans lined the streets as the hearse made its way through the city centre, paying their respects alongside his wife Sharon and their children Aimée, Kelly and Jack.
Osbourne's death came just weeks after his final performance on 5 July, where he reunited with his original Black Sabbath bandmates for the first time in nearly two decades at a farewell concert. In recent years, he faced numerous health challenges, including a fall in 2019 that worsened a spinal injury and required multiple surgeries. He revealed his Parkinson's disease diagnosis in 2020, saying in an interview, “It’s been terribly challenging for us all.”
