The Wanted singer Max George was rushed to hospital on Tuesday morning, a year after having a pacemaker fitted. The star revealed he had been taken to A&E and shared a snap from his hospital bed, writing: “What now ffs. This s**t ALWAYS happens in the middle of the night.” He also referenced his pet dog, Albert.
Last month, George explained he had to undergo tests after a number of heart surgeries. He previously had an emergency heart operation after a pacemaker was fitted in 2024. He said: “I am in the building where I had all my heart surgeries. I can’t say it is good to be back because it is not. I just had a scan done on my chest because I’ve had a bit of an issue with one of my lungs. It should be fine. It is just a precaution.”
In November last year, George was also rushed to hospital for MRI scans days before a tour. He described the experience as “scary” after suffering an arrhythmia, where the top half of his heart was beating at 50 beats per minute and the bottom at 160. He required medication to stabilise his condition.
George admitted the health issues have changed his lifestyle, forcing him to be careful with exercise and avoid activities like football and skiing to protect his pacemaker. He said: “It literally came out of nowhere. I've just been on this tour in America, everything was fine, and it just happened at home. It was a massive shock.”
The singer also revealed a setback after his initial pacemaker operation required a second procedure, which took six to seven months to heal. He expressed hope that this time there would be “a little less drama”.
