Emma Willis has opened up about her ongoing heart issues following keyhole surgery to repair a hole in her heart. The 49-year-old presenter, married to Busted's Matt Willis, admitted she still experiences palpitations and may have to manage the condition for the rest of her life.
Speaking on Heart Breakfast, Willis described the build-up to the operation as 'scary'. She explained that medics fitted a device to fill the hole, which she had unknowingly lived with for 48 years. Despite the surgery, she said the fluttering has 'definitely died down' but her heart needs to 'learn how to refunction hole free'.
Willis was referred to a cardiologist due to high cholesterol, not the palpitations. However, tests revealed the underlying issue. She noted that the palpitations have been more frequent in recent years, but she is hopeful for improvement.
In a social media post, Willis thanked her husband for his support and praised the medical team. She described the experience as 'bonkers' and expressed amazement at modern medicine. Fans, including Charlotte Hawkins and Judi Love, sent well wishes.
