Dave Edmunds in Hospital After Major Cardiac Arrest, Wife Cici Updates Fans

Dave Edmunds, the Welsh rock musician known for his work with Rockpile and Love Sculpture, is in hospital after suffering a major cardiac arrest. His wife, Cici, shared the news on Facebook on Tuesday, July 29, revealing that he briefly 'died in my arms' before medics revived him with 'heavy CPR'.

Cici reported that Edmunds is critically ill and 'very clearly has brain damage and severe memory loss', with a high risk of another major cardiac arrest. She expressed that she believes she has PTSD from the experience and asked fans to send 'prayers and good wishes'.

She added: 'Dave will have a very long journey ahead of him if he survives. We both have. But knowing that there are kind-hearted people such as you all makes this tremendously difficult journey a little easier. Bless you all.'

Edmunds, born in Cardiff in 1944, rose to fame with Love Sculpture, whose cover of 'Sabre Dance' reached the UK top five in 1968. His solo hit 'I Hear You Knocking' was Christmas Number One in 1970. He later formed Rockpile with Nick Lowe and produced albums for Paul McCartney, Stray Cats, and others.

He retired from music after releasing his final instrumental album, 'On Guitar... Dave Edmunds: Rags & Classics', in 2015.
