A Scottish father of five is in a coma after suffering a cardiac arrest while on holiday in Turkey, with his family appealing for help to cover mounting medical bills.
Peter McMahon, 52, from Glasgow, went into cardiac arrest in the early hours of Wednesday, with his heart stopping for 70 minutes. He had flown to the Antalya resort on November 14 for a week-long break.
His daughter Teigan, 20, has travelled to Turkey to be by his bedside. She told the Daily Record that her father is being 'kept alive by machines' and is receiving dialysis after the cardiac arrest caused kidney damage.
Teigan said: 'I got a call on Wednesday to say my dad was in ICU after he had a heart attack. He had a mini heart attack a few months ago. This was totally different. They had to perform CPR on him for over an hour. His heart stopped beating for 70 minutes.'
Peter, who owns a bodywork repair garage, travelled without insurance. Teigan has launched a fundraiser to cover his medical expenses and bring him home, raising £2,000 in a few hours. She said: 'I can't stress enough how important every penny counts. This bill is increasing day by day and is far beyond anything me or my family can manage alone.'
The family are hoping for a miracle as Peter remains in a coma but is able to breathe on his own.
