A man secretly filmed a woman performing a sex act on him and planned to show the footage to his partner to make her jealous, a court has heard.
In the end, David Novac didn't show his partner the clip - but it was seen by police after the woman caught on camera made a complaint.
Swansea Crown Court heard the 34-year-old defendant wants to apologise to his family in Romania, and to return to them as soon as possible.
Facebook Dating encounter
Andrew Davies, prosecuting, told the court that on the morning of May 3 this year Novac started chatting to a woman on the Facebook Dating app. He said the pair met up that same afternoon and had sex.
The court heard that after the encounter the woman made a complaint to police alleging she had been raped.
The defendant was arrested and his phone was seized, and on the device officers found a video of the complainant performing oral sex on Novac.
Video discovery and police interview
The court heard that when police told the woman about the existence of the video she became upset and said she had no idea it had been taken.
The prosecutor said that in his interview the defendant said the sex with the woman had been consensual, and said he took the video to show to his partner in Romanian to "make her jealous" and "let her know I am not lacking on anything".
Asked if he had in fact shown his partner the clip, the defendant said he had not.
Sentencing and previous convictions
David Novac - who also goes by the first name Teodor - of Neath Road, Hafod, Swansea, had previously pleaded guilty to voyeurism when he returned to the dock via prison videolink for sentencing.
He has previous convictions for driving with excess alcohol in 2020, and possession of a bladed article from 2025 for which he was given a four-month suspended sentence.
Matt Murphy, for Novac, said the defendant wishes to apologise to his family, the complainant, and the court, and said his client wants to return to his family in Romania.
With a one-sixth discount for his guilty plea, judge Catherine Richards sentenced Novac to five months in prison. The judge activated two months of the previously imposed suspended sentence to run concurrently with the voyeurism sentence.
Novac will be required to register as a sex offender for the next seven years.
