Details from Rob's Video

In a Facebook video posted on Tuesday (August 18), Rob explained: “Those of you who follow the page regularly will know that Iris, Sapphire's foal, was readmitted to Rainbow Equine Hospital again very early on Sunday morning (August 16).

“She'd taken a turn for the worse. She had what appeared to be a chest infection for over a week, and it wasn't getting any better. Hannah had been very worried about her. We all had. I went up to see her Saturday night and she had [her head back] and appeared to be fighting for breath.

“I didn't sleep that well and got up early and she was no better, so I said I'm taking her to hospital. I thought she just needed the right antibiotics to sort it out.

“There's a couple of abscesses on her chest, because they scanned her. Yesterday afternoon, I got a phone call, a bolt from the blue, and she said, 'We've cracked it, we know what's wrong with her'. But she needs a serious operation.

“She's got a cyst – they hope it's a cyst, slash mass – growing in her throat. That's why she's never had an efficient suck reflex and why she's had to drink from a bowl.”
