Great British Sewing Bee star Minnie forced to leave

Another contestant has been forced to leave The Great British Sewing Bee, as the beloved series entered its sixth week.

Week Six Challenges

The amateur sewers were first tasked with making a children's tutu in the pattern challenge. They then stressed the importance of sustainability in the transformation challenge, as they repurposed fleece into stuffed animal toys. Finally, in the made-to-measure challenge, the sewers created original outfits for children's superheroes.

Minnie's Elimination

Despite impressing the judges Esme Young and Patrick Grant, it was time for one contestant to leave the competition. Host Sophie Willan shared: "Unfortunately, one of you does have to go home, and the person going home this week is Minnie."

Bedfordshire mum Minnie was supported by her co-stars after the news, as she said: "It's been really, really nice. I think the best part is meeting all the sewers, and I've learnt a lot." She added: "I'm proud of how far I've got, it's been quite the journey. I'm proud and I'm happy, it's a good place to be."

New Presenter Sophie Willan

The Sewing Bee returned this year with its 12th season, with Esme Young and Patrick Grant reprising their roles as judges, whilst comedian Sophie Willan replaced Sara Pascoe as presenter. After her debut on the programme during the Christmas special last year, fans had rushed to share their support. One fan wrote: "Brilliant Sophie!" Another said: "The best ever!" A third echoed: "This was wonderful! You are perfect for this show." Someone else said: "@sophiewillan is a great new host. Really enjoyed it."

The Great British Sewing Bee airs Tuesdays at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
