BBC Breakfast Duck Attack: Viewers Shamed for Mocking Incident

During a live BBC Breakfast interview with the RSPCA, a dog attacked a duck in the background, sparking criticism of viewers who found the incident humorous. The duck, named Lupita, suffered serious injuries, including a broken pelvis, and was rescued by a local photographer named Vivi.

Chaos on Live TV

The attack occurred as an RSPCA representative was being interviewed, moments after stating, 'Our pets are completely under our control.' A swimming dog then chased the duck, capturing the attention of viewers. Some took to social media to mock the situation, unaware of the severity of the injuries.

Rescue and Aftermath

Vivi, who runs a Richmond photography Instagram account, documented the rescue. She reported that a man named Mark retrieved Lupita from the water, allowing them to seek help. The duck was taken to a wildlife vet in Wokingham, where an X-ray revealed a broken pelvis. Vivi shared updates, stating, 'She is at our lovely rescuer Ann’s house on meds and we hope the break fixes itself.'

Viewer Backlash

Vivi condemned those who laughed at the attack, writing, 'Shame on those who have thought it was funny, an unruly dog grabbing a very beloved duck and nearly killing it.' She explained that Lupita and other ducks are regulars on the riverside, abandoned by a former owner four years ago. Vivi urged followers to 'keep everything crossed' for Lupita, who remains in a serious condition.
