Wirral fitness instructor Vicky Crowden is set to run seven marathons on seven continents in just seven days this November, aiming to raise £150,000 for The Captain’s Trust for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity. The challenge comes after her husband Neil was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic melanoma.
Personal Motivation
Vicky, owner of Revive Spin and Stretch in Hoylake, previously raised £26,000 by running 5 kilometres every day for 100 days. Her husband Neil is currently undergoing immunotherapy at Clatterbridge, a treatment that only works for about 50% of patients. Vicky hopes the funds will support further research into immunotherapies and cancer vaccines.
The Ultimate Challenge
The Great World Race takes place from November 15 to 21, starting in Antarctica, then moving to Cape Town, Perth, Abu Dhabi, the Algarve, Miami, and South America. Vicky is seeking corporate sponsors for each leg, with the Cape Town segment already sponsored by a South African company.
How to Support
Donations can be made via Vicky's GoFundMe page. Businesses interested in sponsoring a marathon leg can contact Pete Price at pete@peteprice.com.
