UK Heatwave to Hit 33C This Weekend Before Rain Sweeps Across All 92 Counties

The Met Office has forecast temperatures of up to 33C over the Bank Holiday weekend, potentially breaking the May record of 32.8C. However, weather maps indicate that a rainstorm will end the heatwave, with showers expected in all 92 counties across the UK.

The ECMWF model shows rain moving in from the Atlantic on the evening of May 31, initially hitting western parts of Wales and England, as well as central and southern Scotland. By midday on June 1, the rain is expected to reach the Midlands and the south-east, including London.

A second weather front is predicted for June 2, bringing rain to Wales, central England, and the south, with the heaviest downpours in the capital. Over three days, every UK county is likely to see some rainfall.

Before the rain, the UK is set for record-breaking temperatures. The Met Office predicts highs of 31C on Friday, 32C on Saturday, 33C on Monday, 32C on Tuesday, and 28C on Wednesday, potentially marking six consecutive days of heatwave conditions.

The UK Health Security Agency has issued amber heat health alerts for five regions—East Midlands, West Midlands, East of England, London, and South East—until May 27, warning of significant impacts on health and social care services. Other English regions are under yellow alerts.
