However, the milestone has intensified scrutiny over his health, following incidents of apparent memory loss and visible symptoms like bruising and swelling.
Trump and his inner circle dismiss these concerns, insisting he remains in "perfect" health. Yet critics argue that even an agile octogenarian might struggle with the pressures of the presidency.
Critics Speak Out
Rahm Emanuel, a prominent Democrat and former chief of staff to Barack Obama, told the New York Times: "Somebody at 80-years-old just doesn't have the physical stamina, the mental stamina for that office." He added that the role "ages you in a way that no other stress in your life does."
Trump recently saw a record-breaking 22 specialists during a health check-up, double the number from six months prior. He called the appointment "perfect" on Truth Social, and a White House spokesperson said the involvement of multiple specialists "reflects a comprehensive, multidisciplinary evaluation consistent with best practices for executive-level medical care."
Medical Report Under Scrutiny
Physicians reviewing the findings suggested the evaluation lacked the detail expected for cardiovascular health. Dr. William Shultze told the Washington Post: "That report is almost too good to be true for someone of his age. This seems to be a filtered narrative."
The White House pushed back, with communications director Steven Cheung stating: "President Trump has publicly released more detailed information about his health than any other president in history - showing he is in excellent health."
