Jose Mourinho's second reign as Real Madrid manager hasn't even begun, and he's already facing a ban from the club. The restriction, however, is not related to football but to the club's exclusive car partnership with BMW.
BMW Partnership Rules
Real Madrid has an all-encompassing arrangement with BMW that prevents players and coaching staff from driving any other brand of car to the Santiago Bernabeu or the training ground. This means Mourinho must leave his personal collection in the garage and choose a BMW from a pre-set catalogue.
Trent Alexander-Arnold discovered the same rule last year after joining from Liverpool in an £8.4 million deal. He was not permitted to drive his £130,000 Range Rover P530 to work.
Mourinho's Car Collection
Mourinho is known for his impressive car collection, including a £200,000 Bentley and a Jaguar F-Pace. His favorite drive is said to be a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, gifted by former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich in 2007, valued at £250,000. He turned up in that car for his first day at Benfica last September.
Despite the restriction, the available BMW options are elite. Players like Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe drive a BMW XM, a 748-horsepower vehicle that reaches 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, costing around £135,000. Vinicius Junior has been spotted driving a BMW i7 M70 xDrive.
Mourinho's Return
Mourinho reunites with president Florentino Perez 13 years after his first Real Madrid stint ended. While he must adhere to the car policy, he will have full control over the squad for the upcoming season.
