Newly released photographs show the Princess of Wales being embraced by her loved ones at the foot of Snowdon upon completing her Three Peaks Challenge. In a remarkable display of endurance, Kate tackled the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge last weekend to raise funds for a cancer charity and 'explore life beyond diagnosis'.
Royal First: Kate Conquers Three Peaks in 24 Hours
The future queen scaled the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon – within 24 hours, setting off on Saturday evening. Kensington Palace confirmed it believed the expedition marked a royal first, with the princess becoming the first member of the royal family to accomplish the Three Peaks challenge.
The images, now shared on their social media, show Kate being greeted by the Prince of Wales and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, along with her parents Carole and Michael Middleton and brother James Middleton.
Family Reunion at Snowdon Summit
The photographs capture her embracing her husband in one shot, while another shows her arms wrapped around Charlotte. Further images depict her with her arm around George, holding hands with Louis, and conversing with her family. The final photograph features Kate alongside her family, including her parents, brother, and his dog.
The accompanying caption reads: 'This time last week, completing the National Three Peaks Challenge. A huge thank you to everybody who has supported The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.'
Support Along the Route
Kate completed the Three Peaks challenge unaccompanied, with Mountain Rescue providing support throughout the route. The princess subsequently made a donation to an 11-year-old wheelchair user she encountered while undertaking the challenge. During her ascent of Ben Nevis, she came across Ted, who was tackling the same challenge with the support of his family and friends.
Inspiring Encounter with Young Fundraiser
They were fundraising for Molly Olly's Wishes, a charity dedicated to supporting children with serious illnesses. On Monday, Kate donated to Ted's cause on Just Giving, leaving a message which read: 'One of the real highlights of the Three Peaks Challenge was meeting inspiring people like you along the way. Huge congratulations to Ted, Pete and the entire team for raising money for such a wonderful cause.'
The JustGiving page, established by Ted's father, Pete Haslam, has so far raised in excess of £11,000. The description states: 'Ted is a wheelchair user - but that's never been the thing that defines him. Determination does. This isn't his first mountain. He has already taken on Snowdon not once, but twice, proving his resilience and spirit. Last year, he stood proudly at the summit of Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the UK. Each climb has been a step – quite literally – toward something bigger than himself.'
