Clarkson's Farm star Hannah Bourne-Taylor has credited her husband, Olympic rower Robin Bourne-Taylor, as the inspiration behind her bold naked protest for swift conservation. The conservationist, known for her passionate bird protection work, walked through London completely naked with bird-inspired body paint in 2022 as part of her nationwide campaign, The Feather Speech, to secure nesting sites for the endangered swift species.
Campaign and Protest Details
Hannah Bourne-Taylor, in her late 30s and based in Oxfordshire, made national headlines with her striking protest. She presented a petition supported by the Royal Society for Protection of Birds (RSPB) and Rewriting Extinction, later leading demonstrators to Downing Street where she read a letter to then Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Her campaign called on the public to provide essential nesting sites for swifts, whose numbers have declined sharply.
Husband's Influence and Support
Despite facing online misogyny after her protest, Hannah received unwavering support from her husband Robin. A former British Army officer and Olympic rower for Oxford, Robin was awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross for his service in Afghanistan. Hannah told The Observer: 'I don't think I'm in a particularly normal environment! My husband, you could describe, genuinely, as being like a superhero.' She added: 'As an Olympic rower, he spent eight years of his life having this obsessive goal, for which he had to do something over and over again and expect a different outcome every time he didn't win. What better lesson for my campaign.'
Background and Marriage
Hannah and Robin married in 2015. In her 2022 book Fledgling, Hannah described how Robin's new role in Ghana led her to rescue a baby bird, sparking her deep passion for conservation. The couple returned to Oxfordshire in 2021, and Hannah launched her swift campaign the following year. Robin now works as a professional speaker, sharing his experiences from the frontline and the Olympics.
