Christie Brinkley Blasts Trump's Environmental Policies on Instagram
Brinkley Criticises Trump's Policies on Instagram

Supermodel and actress Christie Brinkley has delivered a sharp rebuke to former President Donald Trump through a series of pointed Instagram Stories. On Sunday morning, she reposted headlines, videos, and her own commentary to criticise his leadership and policy decisions, focusing particularly on environmental and health issues.

Health and Environmental Concerns Highlighted

In one story, Brinkley shared a graphic featuring a headline about the rollback of coal plant limits on mercury and other toxins. She wrote over the image: 'Another day another way to destroy our health! Mercury causes deformities in babies and developmental disorders of the brain!' Brinkley added that mercury exposure also affects adults, citing nervous system disorders and organ damage, before concluding, 'THIS GREED AT OUR EXPENSE MUST STOP.'

Trump's Controversial Quote Resurfaces

Brinkley followed up by reposting a video clip of Trump speaking from the White House, overlaid with a quote attributed to him that read: 'I can do anything I want to do to them. I'm allowed to destroy the country.' Trump made this statement earlier this month during a press conference, where he lamented how the US Supreme Court prevented him from imposing minor tariffs but did not block other, more destructive moves. Beneath the clip, Brinkley added her own caption: 'And I must say he is doing a good job of destroying the country.'

History of Criticism and Election Aftermath

Brinkley has publicly criticised Trump and his supporters on several occasions. Following his 2024 US presidential election win, the former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model voiced her concerns in a lengthy Instagram caption. She wrote: 'The fate of our children's future is in our hands. He has promised to undo every environmental protection put in place during the Biden administration on day one.'

She added that this would make it impossible to prevent climate chaos from accelerating, noting that natural disasters and diseases will intensify if society does not prioritise the planet over corporate profits. Brinkley emphasised: 'There's no undoing the climate change we are feeling today, but if we work together we can slow it even stop its devastating progression.'

Economic and Health Warnings

Brinkley also addressed economic policies, stating: 'And we know trickle down economics is a failed concept, so don't think that drill Baby drill is going to make you rich. It's more like sick, like ill baby ill.' She reminded her followers that 'our health is our greatest wealth and we won't survive without a healthy biodiverse environment.'

She later expressed that nature does not discriminate based on political or racial lines, highlighting that borders cannot protect against unprecedented events like '100 Year Storms' that are now occurring regularly.

Call for Unity and Environmental Action

The model urged collective action, stating: 'We're all in this together. So we better learn to get along and work together. For the sake and well being of our children action is mandated.' Brinkley described Earth as a shared home, saying: 'We're all one family on the same tiny boat known as Mother Earth…and Mom is talking…she's telling us in so many ways she can't take much more. She's given us her all.'

She encouraged her fans to show respect and support for the planet over the next four years, warning that otherwise, it may lack the resources to sustain life. Brinkley concluded: 'So my brothers and sisters let's stick together, birds of a feather and give each other and our Mother some love.'
