The parents of Charlie Noble, a 16-year-old who drowned at Bracklinn Falls in May, are preparing to walk the West Highland Way in his memory. Tam Noble and Shelley Ferguson have set up a fundraising page, with donations split between CHAS (Children's Hospices Across Scotland) and SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health).
Teen's death at beauty spot
Charlie Noble died after getting into difficulty in the water while celebrating the end of his exams with friends from Denny High School at Bracklinn Falls in the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park on May 28. He was the 12th person in the UK to die from water-related incidents amid hot weather in May.
His parents described their loss, with his mother saying: "No parent should ever have to face the heartbreak of losing their child. Every day without Charlie is a struggle, and although we can never bring him back, we want to do something positive in his memory that may help other families and young people."
Charity walk plans
On May 19, 2027, the couple will take on the West Highland Way challenge. Shelley Ferguson said: "This challenge will be emotional, it will be tough, and there will undoubtedly be tears along the way. But we will keep putting one foot in front of the other for Charlie, for the families who need support, and for everyone who struggles in silence."
The parents hope to raise £2,000 and have already brought in £265 in less than 24 hours. Donations can be made via Shelley's GoFundMe page.
